West Sussex Young People's Strategy 2027-2032: Have Your Say
Overview
West Sussex County Council is developing a new Young People's Strategy to improve leisure-time and recreational opportunities for young people over the next five years. The strategy aims to create a more joined-up, equitable and high-quality offer that supports young people's health, wellbeing and development.
We want to hear from young people, parents and carers, schools, community organisations, health and social care services, activity providers and other partners about the proposed priorities and actions.
Your feedback will help us understand whether we have identified the right priorities, whether anything is missing, and what should be given the greatest focus as the strategy is finalised.
The strategy focuses on young people aged 11 to 19 years, and up to 25 years for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. It covers activities that take place outside of the classroom, school, college or work, including sports, arts and culture, youth clubs, outdoor activities, volunteering, community activities and other opportunities that help young people learn, develop skills, build relationships and thrive.
Proposed Priorities
We are seeking feedback on six proposed priorities:
- Access, Availability and Awareness
- Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
- Safe, Trusted and Youth-Friendly Environments
- Quality Opportunities and Positive Futures
- Youth Voice and Empowerment
- Connected Communities, Partnerships and Sustainability
There are two surveys available to complete: one for young people, and one for partners, carers, and partners. Please complete the survey that is most relevant to you.
The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. All responses will be considered when developing the final strategy.

How we will use the information (data) you give us
We will process this data in accordance with the 2018 Data Protection Act, General Data Protection Regulations and any subsequent relevant legislation. West Sussex County Council is registered as a Data Controller (Reg. No. Z6413427).

The information you provide will be used solely to inform the development of the West Sussex Young People's Strategy 2027-2032. Your feedback will help us understand whether the proposed priorities and actions reflect the needs and views of young people, families, communities, and organisations across West Sussex.
The survey is being conducted by staff within West Sussex County Council, including Public Health, Children, Young People and Learning and partner teams involved in developing the strategy. The information collected will be analysed and used to produce summary findings, reports, and recommendations to support the final strategy.
Participation in this survey is voluntary. You do not have to take part, and you may skip questions you do not wish to answer.
This survey is anonymous. We will not use your responses to identify you or contact you. Any equality monitoring information that you choose to provide will be used only to help us understand who has taken part and whether we have heard from a diverse range of people and communities. This survey contains free text answers. No quotes will be taken directly from any answers provided in these sections and answers will be used to create themes. Any answers provided that would be identifiable will not be shared.
Survey data will be stored securely by West Sussex County Council and retained for up to one year following completion of the consultation, after which it will be securely deleted in accordance with our records management procedures.
