West Sussex County Council is currently developing a Young People’s Strategy.
The strategy aims to create a more joined-up, equitable and high-quality local leisure and recreational time activities that support young people’s health, wellbeing and development.
It will focus on young people aged 11–19, and up to 25 for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
What do we mean by leisure-time and recreational activities?
Leisure-time and recreational activities are activities that young people choose to take part in outside of the classroom at school, college or work. These may include sports and physical activities, arts and cultural activities, youth clubs, outdoor and holiday activities, special interest clubs, volunteering and community activities. Activities may fit into more than one category.
The focus of this strategy is on activities that support young people's wellbeing, including their physical and mental health, safety, education and learning, social connections, contribution to their community, and future opportunities.
The strategy has been developed using evidence from the West Sussex Young People's Leisure -Time Activities Needs Assessment (opens in a new window), the National Youth Strategy (opens in a new window) and engagement with young people and parters in West Sussex.
We warmly invite you to share your views on the proposed priorities. The questions below are a guide, please respond to those most relevant to you. Your feedback will help shape the final strategy.
This survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
