Completely useless service. Bus booked for 10.30 to arrive at St Richard’s in plenty of time for 11.30 appointment. First notification said bus 5 minutes late, second said it could arrive anytime up to 10.55. Could not wait so drove my husband to Chichester only to see the bus parked in the lay-by by Yummies food truck. Driver sat looking at his phone! If you can’t rely on bus running at the times it allows you to book there doesn’t seem to be any point to this service. We are unlikely to try it again.

60 bus to Midhurst is frequently late. It now very well used and we have to wait at least 10-12mins most lunchtimes. As it now so much better used maybe it should be more frequent and be every 20 mins
I think it was a mistake to change the route so that it doesn’t go into the bus station. If you catching a train it’s a real nuisance to have to walk back from East Street , if you have luggage it difficult and you’re crossing roads. The train goes to Gatwick after all!!!

I recently used the 60 bus service between Chichester and West Dean, I was impressed at how clean the buses were and how they kept to the timetable of every 30 mins. However I was surprised that the route did not include the bus station or even the railway station in Chichester.

West Sussex Bus Pass provide bus passes at their discretion. My son is diagnosed with autism. He has been autistic for all of his life and will remain autistic for all of his life so it is very frustrating that he has to apply every couple of years to renew his bus pass and that he has to pay a gp to give an expert opinion to say that due to the complexity of his disabilities he has never and will never drive. I think he should be given a bus pass for life

Most bus services in and around Shoreham by Sea (that's where I live) are good
But sadly the 19 bus service run by Compass buses is problematical. There are no bus shelters for lots of the route. There are no buses on a Sunday. There are no buses after 6pm. Often buses will not run because of a lack of drivers to cover lunch breaks. There is only one scheduled bus an hour so if a bus doesn't run because of lack of staff cover that can mean waiting for up to two hours for a bus. The service is used on a regular basis by elderly people and neuro diverse people. Mostly the bus customers are very reliant on the service. I think there is a lot of room for improvement. Also I am a carer to my adult autistic son. He has been autistic all of his life, that is never going to change, yet he has to reapply for his bus pass every couple of years and it is at the discretion of West Sussex Bus Pass to decide if he can or cannot have a pass each time. I manage all of his admin matters and find the way the decision is made very frustrating. WE have to pay for a letter from a GP which has to state specifically that my son cannot and will not ever drive because of the complexity of the impact of his disability. I feel he should just be given his bus pass and not ever have to apply again

I am r really disappointed that WSCC allowed the B2146 to be closed such that the Stagecoach service 54 cannot serve South Harting or Nyewood. The alternative Book a Bus system is not fit for purpose.

I live in Billingshurst and work in horsham, however, i drive to work, as the bus service is basically non existent and it does not start early enough for me to consider taking the bus instead.

It is outrageous the changes that are being made to the number 17 stagecoach bus. Partridge Green is basically being cut off for a large chunk of the day. Many people from the village use that bus regularly throughout the day and will become isolated without a regular service.

No. 17 bus Horsham to Brighton.
I have heard a rumour that this will be no longer stopping in partridge green is this true? If so why? it is the only bus service that comes into the village and my child uses it to go to college. It is also going to miss us out every half hour again why?

#WestSussBus I recently traveled from Chichester to Bognor using bus service 700 Bognor Regis. As a wheelchair user, I encountered significant difficulties manoeuvring my power wheelchair on the bus. The buses lack adequate space for turning after entering, and I was particularly dismayed by the supposedly new bus 700, which is even smaller. It is disheartening that in 2024, buses still do not provide proper accessibility for wheelchair users. Those responsible for accepting these new buses should experience the challenges firsthand by sitting in a wheelchair and attempting to board. It is crucial to address this issue, as after entering, there is insufficient space to turn, making the overall experience unacceptable for wheelchair users.

Please reinstate the bus stop at Dial Post. The Knepp estate is lovely to walk around and if the 23 Worthing - Crawley bus were to stop here, as it once did, people could visit by bus and arrive safely instead of the treacherous crossing at Partridge Green Turn. Maybe traffic lights or a roundabout needed. Or perhaps a pedestrian bridge? Anything to reduce the traffic noise from the A24

Why is it that Horsham seem to get the older buses particularly when new Buses are introduced in Crawley & we get the old ones apart from route 200. Some of these Old buses are very uncomfortable particularly for older passengers.

malcwrap Over 2 years ago

I would like more frequent bus services from Storrington to all areas, especially to Worthing, Shoreham and Horsham. I an hour is simply not enough. The 700 is so Goode being every 10 minutes, but the no 1 is no good to go out for an evening as one could not get home after cinema, theatre etc trips.

The 74 goes extremely infrequently so is just not worth using. But gov constantly say use public transport. Fine if you live where they are in London with a bus every few seconds and the underground!
People in rural villages have to drive to catch a bus, so they probably drive all the way instead of using any bus.

With a couple of buses a day and nothing after 5 0r 6pm Walberton is poorly served. The new 500 for the New builds in Fontwell could have doubled our possibilities, except apparently the buses can't travel through Walberton. BUT of course with the sewage flowing in Barnham and the collapse of the sewer suddenly the buses CAN navigate the impassable route that is Walberton. I am at a loss as to how this can be explained away. But I expect you can.

I wish to complain about new bus service 500 as none of the buses go through Oving which means I can only access it at Shopwyke which is a long walk with shopping a nd the road and path is unlit.

Would it not be possible for this service to stop in Oving village once an hour?

Thanks

I use the 46 BRighton and Hove bus - and am not able to use my West Sussex pass until 09.30. Brighton and Hove passes are able to be used at 9am - why is this disparity, Also, if I want to travel to Shoreham, I would have to walk to the Old Shoreham Road (not always able to do that) catch the 46 to Tesco then catch the 2 into Shoreham, and the reverse on the way back. More buses into Shoreham would ease traffic.

The number 51 bus from Horsham bus station . We only have three bus a day the last one to get home leaves at around one o’clock. So if we go into town for Doctors or dentist doesn’t give you much time for shopping. Please could you help us with this I feel a lot more people would use the bus if we had a better service. At the moment we often have to use the car which really is not helping the environment

I caught the 270 bus yesterday afternoon to meet a friend locally, I am severely visually impaired bus user and use a white cane. Unfortunately the bus didn’t have any audio announcements on it and so was unsure when to get off. After alighting I was given no warning from the bus driver that the bus had not parked on a pavement and that it was in the middle of the road, this caused me to feel disoriented as to where I was due to it not stopping in it’s usual place and some warning about change of location would be helpful another time as well as if there is a steeper step than usual S even though my cane will detect steps the depth of this can be difficult to judge,

I am a regular bus user and generally the drivers are considerate and helpful but not on this occasion.. I also find it difficult to locate a seat especially when busy and very rarely does another passenger offer assistance.

I have sent an email regarding this matter and hope to hear from someone about this soon,

Kind regards

Emily Boyd

No17 Horsham- Henfield-Brighton welcome but unreliable timing, now only every hour, was every half hour, dirty windows, drivers too fast and jerky unsafe feeling on board....

None Over 2 years ago

Newly disabled and not allowed to drive so having to rely on public transport, buses in particular. I am appalled at how poor/limited the services are. The number 17 service Horsham to Brighton needs to urgently be improved. Only hourly buses, no service on a Sunday at all, so what am I supposed to do just never leave the house on a Sunday? I live in the middle of no where, no shops nothing which wasn't a problem whilst I could drive but now I can't, I feel isolated and trapped.

I want to use public transport, but never did before due to how terrible it is, now I have no choice and I am being forced into living an abnormal isolated life. I don't even know who to contact/complain to as no where seems to say who is responsible. One says council other says operator... an extremely upsetting, frustrating and disappointing issue.
