Background

As part of our commitment to support active travel through the Burgess Hill Place and Connectivity Programme West Sussex County Council are progressing Access and Connectivity Improvements through the Victoria Business Park. Delivering a network of new and improved pedestrian and cycle routes throughout Burgess Hill and expanding through key routes within the Business Park. Continuing active travel routes between Burgess Hill Station, Town Centre, the Green Circle and key destinations.

In 2020 Mid Sussex District Council and West Sussex County Council held a public engagement for the Burgess Hill Place and Connectivity Programme, which included proposals for active travel improvements through the Victoria Business Park.

West Sussex County Council are now prioritising the development and delivery of these improvements and wish to inform the local community of the current proposals, provide the opportunity for engagement and feedback that can shape the final designs and ensure key stakeholders are recognised and can be kept updated on project progress..

Proposal: The proposed scheme is focused on delivering a safe and accessible set of improvements for walking, cycling and public transport users, reducing the reliance on vehicle transport with the business park by improving the access and connectivity and providing safe links to the wider pedestrian and cycle network.

Indicative Programme:

  • Public and Stakeholder Engagement and reporting October - December 2026
  • Detailed Design - 2026
  • Build - 2027

From Friday 24th October 2025, West Sussex County Council is holding a period of public engagement where you will have a chance to submit your views on the current designs and influence the future of active travel in Burgess Hill.
