Recruiting New Tree Wardens
Are you a local council looking to recruit new Tree Wardens? - Great, lets explore the next steps:
- Inform the Tree Warden Coordinator. Please let us know that your council want to partner with the network, we will have a quick chat, record some basic contact details and answer any questions you have.
- Start recruiting. We have template recruitment posters and wording which you can use to help or inspire your advertisements. Why not get creative and make your own local advertisement which explains what you're looking for from a Tree Warden. Please get in touch if you'd like a copy of our network logo.
- Appoint you new Tree Warden. You can appoint Tree Wardens however you feel is appropriate. We've provided some guidelines and FAQs to help you and our only request that you provide a copy of the 'Code of Conduct for Tree Wardens' during the appointment process.
- Get your new Tree Warden registered with our network. Once you've appointed a Tree Warden they'll need to register with our West Sussex network. There's information on how to sign up and register below (as well as how to join our new Tree Warden hub!).
- Make a plan and get going. We recommend making a plan of action to help guide the Tree Warden in the early phase of becoming a Tree Warden. We've provided a template 'New Starter Plan' which can help to: agree mutual aims or goals, agree how and when to stay in touch, agree on future briefings or updates to the council.
Once appointed, the Tree Warden Coordinator will be there to help and will continually circulate updates, news, and training opportunities which will also help Tree Wardens gain momentum in their new role.
