Hub Buildings Refreshment Survey

Background

There are some major changes happening across our main hub buildings, including how frequently people will access and use the buildings post the Covid-19 pandemic. With that in mind now is the right time to seek the opinion of colleagues about future catering requirements.

  • The Chichester restaurant ‘Martlets’ has now closed permanently
  • The Bognor café run by Aldingbourne Trust will close shortly following the Trust serving to cease running the service
  • The Horsham restaurant ‘The Terrace’ is currently run by a contractor Elior and is due to expire in January 2022
  • Centenary House in Durrington is due for closure during 2021 and therefore has no future catering requirements

Next Steps

Upon review of income pre pandemic across the hubs it is apparent that the provision of a premium hot drinks service could be financially viable, and perhaps limited snacks and hand-held options.

In an average week pre pandemic over 3,500 hot drinks across the 4 hubs were sold. We are aware that whilst there is access to self-service kitchenettes across the hubs, staff may appreciate an area in which to break away from the working environment, meet with colleagues and buy a premium drink without the need to leave site. A potential self-serve style rapid payment system, a space to refuel, re charge & connect is being investigated by Facilities Management, Catering Services and Procurement. The New Ways of Working group will also be involved to ensure that any future provision would be fit for the future as we move into the post pandemic ways of working.

These services will almost certainly not be full restaurants, as we have not been able to make that model financially sustainable across all hubs in the recent past, the focus will be how we can enhance facilities in our office hubs for the future.

Have Your Say

We would like to get your views by asking a few questions that will help inform us of the solutions we need to further consider. We are aware people are not entirely sure yet how often, or where they might be working from in 2022, so please answer the best that you can. If you frequent more than one of the hubs, please feel free to fill out multiple surveys. Thank you for your time.
