The Resilience and Emergencies Team are creating a WSCC Resilience Support Team - you can sign up here.

The Resilience Support Team is made up of WSCC personnel who volunteer to carry out roles to support with the response to a major incident.

The Resilience Support Team would be called on in major emergencies to assist with the Council’s response. You might be asked to:

  • Join meetings with colleagues from across different organisations to take notes and actions
  • Proactively reach out to vulnerable people in West Sussex to offer support
  • Take calls or answer emails about the emergency

But this is just the start! Emergencies can take many forms so you may be asked to do different tasks. Training and support will be provided.

This voluntary role would be during your normal working hours and would require release from your usual duties for a short time, so you would need your line manager’s permission to join the team. ELT are supportive of the Resilience Support Team so line managers should be aware of the request and support you if you want to join.
