How much do you know about recycling?
What information would help you to recycle more?
As part of our mission to help cut the confusion of recycling we’re running another survey to gather information on what you would like to know and we’d love you to take part. Last year we asked similar questions and got great feedback from residents, which has helped to shape our work over the last 12 months. Whether you took part in our last survey or not, we’d love to hear from you this year! The survey will run from 1st - 30th June 2024.
It just takes a few minutes and your answers will help us to help you in the future.
Please click the 'Take survey' button below to participate.
Alternate formats and accessibility
If you require any of this information in an alternative format, then please contact us by phone 01243 777100or via email at waste.prevention@westsussex.gov.uk and we will assist you. Survey 2024 outcome
Following the second Think Before You Throw survey in June 2024, we released a new series of animated videos as part of the communications campaign under the same name. These video answer questions raised in the survey, such as what additional kerbside collections are available, what to do with specific materials, and why items need to be clean, dry and loose. We have designed this campaign based on the results from both the 2023 and 2024 surveys, along with a comparison of the two.
This section of the campaign will run until spring 2025, and we will then re-run the survey in the summer of 2025 to assess the impact and see how we can further support residents. You can find out more about the campaign on our Think Before You Throw website (opens in new window) or by searching #ThinkBeforeYouThrow on social media.
We also shared anonymised results with our partners in the district and borough councils, so that they can also use these to communicate better with their residents, and make sure that they are answering the questions you may have about the services they offer related to recycling and waste.
Following the Think Before You Throw survey in June 2023, we released a new communications campaign under the same name. This was designed to answer many of the questions that were raised in the survey, and to clear up confusion over which materials can be recycled, what happens to them, and how to dispose of materials that can’t be collected at the kerbside.
