Local Transport Improvements Programme Team (LTIP) Scheme Page

The Local Transport Improvement Programme (LTIP) Team works with schools and communities to deliver safe and sustainable improvements that support County Council priorities. These priorities now focus on Active Travel.

Schemes identified for the LTIP programme are assessed based on how they support County Council priorities using evidence and data, identified schemes are then taken forward through to feasibility. This is where community engagement and feedback can support progress for a scheme.

LTIP schemes are made up of the following scheme types:

  • Cycling
  • Walking
  • Bus Priority
  • Safety (road casualty reduction)
  • Schools Access
  • General Accessibility
  • Countryside Access (Public Rights of Way / Bridleway)
  • Traffic Management
  • Active Travel Initiatives

The LTIP Team considers each scheme on its own merits against West Sussex County Council (WSCC) priorities, value for money (VFM), feasibility, suitability, etc. This process helps us to come to a decision. Each improvement is scored against a set criterion and this allows us to compare the merits of different schemes against each other.

Every year we recommend a programme of the highest scoring schemes to the Cabinet Member for delivery for a given level of resources and funding. Once we have gathered sufficient information and evidence for this proposed work, it will be scored and prioritised accordingly.

To support each scheme we seek to engage with local County Councillors, schools, businesses and the wider community around the scheme, to gather feedback, both positive and negative. This is undertaken before, during and after a scheme is developed.

To find your scheme please look in the named folders to the right of the page and this will contain:

  • Background information
  • Aims of the scheme
  • Plan / Designs
  • Polls
  • Surveys

If your scheme is not shown, please contact us to confirm where we are in the engagement stage of the process.
