Focus groups are an opportunity for us to ask questions to the workforce to help us gather opinions about what is working well, what is not and where we can improve.
We will run focus groups at least every year, with the option of running more if we need to. You are encouraged to share your thoughts and feedback freely. Your responses will be anonymous and will be collected into positive and negative evidence. This insight will be invaluable to us, and we will carry out evaluation which will help us triangulate where we need to develop, improve and provide assurance on what is working well.
It will also help us assess progress against our Round 2 HMICFRS inspection report whereby we had 16 x Areas for Improvement (AFIs) and our 1 x Cause of Concern (CoC) which is 'The service hasn’t done enough since the last inspection to improve how staff understand and display its expected values and behaviours'.
Each focus group will have a maximum of 12/15 people per session. This will allow everyone to have a voice and they will last for 90 minutes. Our focus groups will also give the opportunity to 'myth bust'.
Facilitators and the note taker will be impartial, at peer level and they will ensure confidentiality and anonymity is maintained.
Our round one (R1) of focus groups will start in May and be carried out over a three-month period until July 2023. We aim to start our round two (R2) in January 2024.
