Week 4 Update

Week 4 Summary

The contractors' main focus this week has been within section 3 (please see drawings under photos sections on right side of the webpage):

• Reduced level excavation for the new bus lane.
• Working with Southern Gas Network (SGN) to dig a trench for the gas main diversion route.
• Installing Heras fencing around trees within working area to provide tree protection in line with West Sussex tree arboriculturist's guidelines.

Look Ahead – Week 5 (Section 3)

• Traffic Management Implementation: A designated running lane will remain in place to allow construction plant and dumpers to operate within the working area, reducing the need for vehicular movements on verges.
• Gas Main Diversion Works: Trenching activities will continue in collaboration with SGN to facilitate the diversion of existing gas infrastructure.
• Bus Lane Excavation: Earthworks will continue for the new bus lane within Section 3.
• Pedestrian Access: The pedestrian crossing within Section 3 will remain closed however, alternative crossing points to the East and West will remain fully operational.
