Can I recommend Biker Down to a friend?

Absolutely! We run courses at various venues in the county throughout the year, the upcoming dates are listed in Key Dates section.

    Our email address is firebike@westsussex.gov.uk

What do I need to bring to a Biker Down Workshop

We ask that you bring a helmet if you have one, although we understand not all attendees are motorcyclists.

What if I have to cancel?

We ask that you give us as much notice as possible if you have to cancel by emailing firebike@westsussex.gov.uk so that we can offer your place out to someone on the waiting list.

Where are the Biker Down workshops held?

We usually run the workshops out of 3 venues in West Sussex:

    • County Hall, Chichester
    • Shoreham Fire Station
    • Horsham Fire Station & Training Centre

    How long is the workshop?

The workshops are 4 hours long and usually held between 18:00 and 22:00.

We do have a lot to cover so we aim to start promptly at 18:00, so if you can arrive 10-15 minutes beforehand that really helps.

What does the Biker Down workshop cover?

    • Module one: Looks at the initial scene management and the protection of those present and risk assessing the scene.
    • Module two: Is delivered by a HSE First Aid trainer and focuses on assessing the casualty when dealing with trauma and when and how to safely remove a motorcyclist’s helmet.
    • Module three: Focuses on being seen as a motorcyclist. The module is delivered by a member of the partnership, who uses their experience in investigating and/or dealing with serious and fatal motorcycle crashes.

How much does a Biker Down workshop cost?

We are committed to keeping the Biker Down workshops free of charge for every attendee. We are very kindly supported by Sussex Safer Roads Partnership with funding which allows us to do this.
