New Young People’s Health Needs Assessment – Recreational and educational leisure-time activities
A new report has been created by West Sussex County Council’s Public Health and Early Help teams to understand the needs of young people and how they spend their time outside of school and formal education.
Young people helped to shape this report, which offers comprehensive and current insight and data about the recreational and educational leisure time needs of young people in West Sussex aged 11 to 19 years and those with learning difficulties and disabilities up to the age of 24.
Over 630 young people took part in focus groups, a survey and workshops to share their experiences and opinions.
We want every young person to have the chance to reach their full potential. Taking part in fun, safe, inclusive, supportive and welcoming leisure-time activities helps to build confidence, make friends and stay healthy.
Working with young people to plan activities helps to make sure young voices are heard and that opportunities reflect what they want and need.
The findings from this report will be of use to everyone who plans or provides leisure-time activities in West Sussex.
