Post your 'bus journal' here

We’ve created a space for your own written, video or image-based comments on local buses

Remember, you don’t need to write at all – you can submit your journal in images or video if you prefer, or add them to your written entry.

Post as regularly as you like. You can make your entry as long or short as you like and include the details you feel are relevant. Overheard speech is very useful (but not snooping into personal conversations!)

If you have any questions, you can email us at westsussbus@westsussex.gov.uk

Important: please read before posting your journal

Thank you for sharing your story with us.

    Stagecoach 500

    by Southerntraveller, 8 months ago
I really like this service, used it a few times now, because I live over the footbridge in Rope Walk I can catch it outside The Steam Packet and alight back opposite, so I don't have to walk into town. Great service for Chichester, much quicker then the 700 and a more scenic route, also it drops of right opposite Cathedral, ideal if I'm going in Wetherspoons for a meal, also handy if you wish to go shopping at the retail park in Westhampit or even go to Fontwell races. I used it only last Friday instead of the train... Continue reading

New 500 route - from Chichester to Yapton, 4 July 2023

From a convenience point of view the 500 route is good: regular; runs early and late; goes past Barnham train station, etc.

From a 'good bus journey' point of view it's also good as the route takes in villages, A27, country lanes - where the bus rockets along rattling around - past Tangmere Military Aviation Museum, so it's quite interesting.

I only tried the trip from Chichester to Yapton as I was attending an event at the Yapton Community Centre...in fact it was the official launch of the 500 route, hence the nice shiny bus in the pictures (I'm being... Continue reading

60 route Chichester to Midhurst and back again - Tuesday 11 July 2023

Bus arrived promptly at 9.15...it was an older gold and yellow liveried 700 rather than the Southdowns-a-like green 60 livery. Comfy inside and I managed to bag the 'drivers' seat. that's top deck at the front for those who don;t know. Great for views of the early morning Chichester street scene.

And the wonders of the downland route through Lavant, Singleton and Cocking. It really is a beautiful route and although the bus is really rattly, it's so much better than driving a car because you can see so much more. Including over fences, hedges and houses. You get a... Continue reading

    700 bus

by Jules , about 1 year ago

At last, bus stops now open at Merston Corner, it looks very different here now, the electronic signboard is very useful! Just waiting on the pedestrianised crossing to be functional. Not missing the walk to and from Groves Farm one bit. Credit given to the workmen

    700 bus

by Jules , over 1 year ago
Wasn't good getting the bus from Groves Farm tonight, I have to cross the road to get to the stop, and not one driver wanted to stop to let me cross, I literally inched my way over until a car was far enough from me to make it to the crossing in the middle, I'd already walked about a mile in the dark to get there!

    51 Selsey bus

by Jules , over 1 year ago
Waited earlier for the bus from Selsey High Street, a lot of people were waiting already, delayed somewhere, the bus app wasn't working so couldn't tell if it had been cancelled or not. By the time we had got to the Asda bus stop, it was pretty full

    700 bus

by Jules , over 1 year ago
Prior to getting the 51 tonight, was waiting for the 700 at Groves Farm, not my usual stop though as mine is suspended due to "improvements for cyclists and pedestrians " bus app said it was on time @ 1815, arrived at 1822 - don't like waiting here as there are no street lights, so going to be fun next week when the clocks go back! The 700 arrived, was greeted by a scary driver, reason being the bus was decorated for Halloween together with some music, which I thought very amusing, I would have given a donation had I... 51 Selsey bus

by Jules , over 1 year ago
Didn't have long to wait for this bus, after getting the 700 bus tonight, very busy though. The automatic timetable said that 2 for Selsey were on the way, so bus probably full as there's obviously a delay somewhere for the buses to catch up with each other
