Headteacher Wellbeing Survey

Thought-full logo: helping you think it through. West Sussex County Council Logo and NHS Logo

We are asking you for your thoughts, views and opinions on the wellbeing support of Headteachers in West Sussex. This information is being collected through the Mental Health Support Team Thought-Full, via the Senior Advisory Teacher Victoria Page and Voice and Participation Practitioner Paul Wilkinson. This is open to ALL Headteachers MHST and Non-MHST supported.

The aim is that the questions should take no longer than 3-5 mins.

As with all voice participation activities it is about making sure you get some feedback after the collation of the data, but also remembering that we cannot promise any outcomes based on the questions posed, as this is a fact-finding process.

To give some context to help answer the questions  we have asked the following should help.

What is coaching?

  • Coaching is a process that aims to improve performance and wellbeing focusing on the ‘here and now’ rather than on the distant past or future.
  • It is a non-directive form of development focusing on improving performance and developing personal goals of an individual.
  • Coaching can provide the platform for individuals to assess their strengths, as well as their development.
  • Benefits of coaching can include: increased self-awareness, embracing the strengths and enhancing self-confidence and resilience.
  • It integrates self-care and well-being strategies alongside leadership and management skills

What is Supervision?

  • Professional supervision is Reflective, allowing you time to discuss what’s going on at work and how you are.
  • It is about your work as a leader and professional identity, addressing concerns and looking at your connection to your purpose in education.
  • Helps to acknowledge and digest specific issues, relationships and personal impact where emotional content is high

What is Peer networking?

An opportunity for a larger group of peers to meet with a facilitator to reflect on practice and problem solve. A theme is agreed amongst the group. There is a short input after which, headteachers are allowed some reflection and collaboration time in smaller groups. Strategies are shared through a solution circle type approach. Regular sessions and follow up are provided.
