Research and Evaluation Survey

The aim of this survey is to identify existing use of, and participation in, research and evidence across West Sussex County Council.

By research we mean:

  • producing new information or knowledge, which may include testing an idea, theory or new intervention and/or
  • providing a new interpretation of existing information. This may include routinely collected data being used for a new purpose, as well as publicly available data.

Evidence could refer to research papers published in academic journals, data analysis (of your own data or other available data), reviews of existing evidence and service evaluations.

There are no right or wrong answers; please answer all the questions as honestly as possible to enable us to compile a complete picture of your training requirements.

Your responses to this survey will remain confidential. No identifiable information will be collected and shared. Only aggregate information will be shared to inform training and capacity development plans.

Thank you for completing this survey on Research and Evaluation which will help us to gather a baseline measure of skills, confidence and experience of staff working in West Sussex County Council.

Your responses are anonymised and will be used to inform our understanding about your experience an confidence in research activity and using evidence to inform your practice within the council. The results will help us to develop a learning and development training offer around research and evaluation as well as shaping our research and evaluation strategy.

Data from all surveys are recorded and stored securely, and managed in accordance with West Sussex County Councils Data Protection policy, the Data Protection Act 2018, and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
