We'd like your feedback to help West Sussex County Council develop its new approach to financing and installing solar PV and battery systems on council and commercial buildings.

We've delivered retrofit systems on buildings for many years, but now we’re also focusing on solar PV and batteries for new build developments and working to develop an attractive financial model.

We’re calling this new approach ‘Proactivefit’. The benefits of installing a system on a new building during construction include:

  • Reduced installation costs for items such as scaffolding, materials, and roof surveys.
  • Improved system design that can be sized and optimised for the building and its occupiers now and in the future.
  • Potential to maximise the system size, provide additional services to the grid or other consumers, and generate a better financial return.

The systems we install will be funded, installed, and maintained throughout their lifespan by the County Council.

The building occupiers purchase the electricity generated at an agreed rate through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), giving them price certainty and security in a volatile energy market.
