Road Safety Strategy 2025-2036 - Public Consultation

West Sussex County Council are seeking comments on the West Sussex Road Safety Strategy 2025-2036. It is recommended that the strategy is reviewed prior to starting this consultation survey.

The Strategy provides a new vision for road safety in West Sussex, complementing the West Sussex Transport Plan and the Active Travel Strategy and recognising the ambition of Vision Zero. This is supported by a road safety casualty reduction target to reduce the number of KSIs by 30% against a baseline average by the end of 2035, as adopted as KPI41 in April 2024.

The approach taken is to demonstrate the Safe System principles and how the County Council integrates these through road safety engineering; new highway infrastructure; highway maintenance; education, training, and publicity (ETP); and technology. A road safety intervention could be a highway improvement, targeted education / training, or simply a social media campaign to raise awareness of an issue.
