Crawley - Zone H Public Engagement - Part Day

What is being proposed?

West Sussex County Council conducted an engagement exercise with residents in late 2024 about the possibility of introducing a new controlled parking zone (H). After reviewing the feedback from residents and other stakeholders, the Council has decided it would be helpful to run a further engagement exercise. This follow‑up includes proposed changes to the original hours of restriction, as well as adjustments to where certain restrictions would apply.

The Council is now proposing a part‑day parking zone, Option 1. This would include one hour of restriction in the morning and one hour in the afternoon, 10am-11am & 2pm-3pm Monday-Friday, applying to the residents parking bays. Introducing short, targeted restriction periods is expected to prevent non‑residents from parking in the area all day, while keeping permit costs lower than those for a full‑day restricted zone.

Across the area, should the Council plans to use “Permit Holders Only Past This Point” signs at entrances to certain roads. This approach removes the need to mark individual bays (except Disabled Bays), allowing residents to continue their usual parking habits and maximising usable road space.

The roads in this proposed zone are:

Amberley Close, Arundel Close, Banks Road, Blackwater Lane, Bodiam Close, Burleys Road, Camber Close, Cowdray Close, Eridge Close, Knepp Close, Lewes Close, Long Close, Pevensey Close, Sedgewick Close, Spring Plat, The Bower, The Pasture, Toftwood Close.

At this stage we would like to know your opinion with regards to the proposed updated design and restrictions for your area.

While your feedback during this consultation is greatly appreciated, the County Council is keen to stress that no decisions have yet been made and that no changes to parking will be made in your road without a statutory consultation taking place. This could potentially, if proposals are taken forward, commence in Autumn 2026. If Option 1 is not supported, no further engagement exercises will take place in the foreseeable future.

CLOSING DATE FOR RESPONSES IS 23rd March 2026
