The Renters' Right Act 2025 has now completed its passage through Parliament and received Royal Assent. Phase 1 of the implementation will commence in May 2026.
West Sussex County Council has had the pleasure of building relationships and working closely with you over the last few years. We would like to identify new opportunities to continue working together with the forthcoming changes in law.
To understand what the future will look like we have included a survey to gain your feedback and inform an agenda for a face to face forum which will be scheduled for the end of January 2026. The responses will help us to understand your perspective and how we can continue to deliver the outcomes for all involved parties.

Thank you for taking part in our recent survey, it was incredibly valuable to receive your insight.
The results showed a strong awareness of the Rent Reform Act, as well as clear support for a regular forum where we can discuss upcoming changes.
Following this, we held our first meeting on 10 February 2026 to review the survey findings and explore how we can navigate these changes collaboratively. During the session, we agreed to continue meeting on a quarterly basis to support ongoing discussion and strengthen our landlord community.
The date of the next meeting has not yet been scheduled, but we will be in touch with all landlords once arrangements are confirmed so you have the opportunity to attend.
