Thank you to everyone who took part in our public consultation on the draft West Sussex Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2025 to 2030 (opens in new window). The five-week public consultation was carried out to seek views from the public, professionals, and organisations across West Sussex on the draft strategy, taking place from Monday, 24 March to Sunday, 27 April 2025. Your feedback and views have contributed to the final strategy and will help inform its delivery.

Following formal approval by the West Sussex Health and Wellbeing Board (opens in new window) at their meeting on Thursday, 10 July 2025, the strategy has been published on our website. The Board will now begin to implement and deliver the strategy with the establishment of delivery groups for each priority area, to improve the health and wellbeing of residents and communities and reduce health inequalities.

Overall, 408 completed consultation responses were received. This is a 110% increase on the number of responses to the Health and Wellbeing Board’s previous public consultation in 2019 on the draft Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2019- 2024. Of these 408 responses, 358 were completed using the general survey and a further 50 used the easy read version.

Responses were broadly supportive of all priority areas, and feedback has informed the following changes:

  • Further information on how the priority areas were identified
  • Additional key points/data in the population health needs section
  • Further clarity in some priority areas

Additionally, a wide range of thoughts and suggestions on the specific details of priority areas and their delivery were included in responses and will be reviewed by the relevant priority area delivery group, as part of the implementation and delivery of the strategy.

You can find out more about the new strategy on our website below. This includes a message from Cllr Bob Lanzer, Chairman of the West Sussex Health and Wellbeing Board, and Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing. A short two-minute animation video, providing a summary of the strategy is also available, which we encourage everyone to share widely.
