Introduction
The County Council are beginning the process of considering options for Primary phase school meal catering arrangements post the conclusion of the current contracts, July 31st, 2026. Around 200 schools and academies currently participate in these arrangements. The Council are keen to gather school views on current and future arrangements.
It should be noted that in many of these schools there are restrictions around the type of meals service that can be provided, due to not having production kitchen facilities. It is unlikely that a production kitchen model would be viable without significantly increasing the cost of the meal service, to recoup any upfront capital investment offered by Providers.
The Council will be holding Provider engagement sessions to further understand this, and other subjects. We will be using the feedback gathered in this survey, and feedback gathered from parents in our regular parent surveys, to further inform those conversations and understand what Providers may be able to offer schools, within the restrictions that we do have both financially and facilities wise.
Survey
Can we please ask that each school complete the survey only once, and to note that although hosted on the Council’s public platform the survey is aimed only at Primary phase schools to complete.
