Overview

West Sussex County Council’s Public Health team want to understand the experiences of drug and alcohol service use among LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and any other sexual or gender identity minorities) people in West Sussex.

Evidence suggests that some LGBTQ+ groups may experience barriers to accessing drug and alcohol services. This research aims to understand what is working well and what could be improved in current service provision.

The findings from this study will help us identify specific support needs and provide recommendations to improve drug and alcohol services to meet the needs of LGBTQ+ individuals.

Participation involves attending up to 90 minutes group discussion. There are two sessions to choose from (Crawley and Worthing ) . A friend or family member is welcome to be present as support.

We are looking for participants who:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Identify as LGBTQ+
  • Live in West Sussex
  • Have experience of accessing or attempting to access drug or alcohol services

You will receive a £20 love2shop voucher as a thank you for your time upon completion of your participation in the group discussion. The voucher will be sent to you by post.

Travel expenses for your journey to and from the discussion venue will be reimbursed on presentation of a valid receipt.

The researcher may respectfully end your participation early if it becomes clear that you do not meet the eligibility criteria, or if there are concerns about safety, data quality, or ethical integrity. In such cases, any information provided will be deleted, and no incentive will be provided.

We reserve the right to end recruitment once maximum capacity has been reached.
