Bus lane

West Sussex County Council (WSCC) are planning to use new powers, to improve safety and tackle congestion by enforcing moving traffic contraventions such as:

  • driving through a 'No Entry' sign
  • turning left or right when instructed not to do so i.e. banned turns
  • entering yellow box junctions when the exit is not clear
  • driving where and when motor vehicles are prohibited
  • driving on routes that are for buses and taxis only.

We are undertaking a consultation to understand your views on WSCC’s plans to use new powers, soon to be approved by parliament, to improve safety and reduce congestion by enforcing moving traffic contraventions.

WSCCs intention is to initially focus enforcement action on cases of driving on specific routes that are for buses only. With that in mind the two sites proposed are the southbound bus lanes along Gatwick Road in Crawley as follows; approaching the Radford Road roundabout and approach the Fleming Way junction.

Initially our plans involve improving the enforcement within the bus lanes in Crawley only.

We have provided this questionnaire for you to give your views.

If you have any questions regarding these proposals, please email parking@westsussex.gov.uk. Please use the reference ‘Traffic Management Act’.
