There are a number of day services which are available to older people across West Sussex. The County Council commissions Shaw Healthcare Ltd to provide six of these at centres which are located on the same site as some of Shaw Healthcare’s residential care homes.Since March 2020, the Shaw Healthcare day services have been closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, but before the pandemic only around 45% of these places were being utilised.

Community equipment and minor adaptations to the home can help adults and children with physical disabilities or illness with:<ul><li>getting around the home, such as stair rails or rails at the front door</li><li>daily activities, such as washing, using the toilet, getting on and off furniture (bed and chair), and managing in the kitchen</li><li>providing support after a discharge from hospital</li><li>increasing independence and safety.</li></ul>Community equipment and minor adaptations can also help to reduce or delay the need for longer-term care as well as reducing unplanned hospital admissions.The West Sussex Community Equipment Service provides free loans of equipment to people who live permanently in the county.NRS Healthcare, an independent community equipment provider, hold the current contract to arrange for the delivery, collection, repair and servicing of community equipment.We want to improve our services and have created a survey to find out about your experiences if you have used the equipment service and your views about how we can best provide equipment or minor adaptations in the future.The survey is being conducted by West Sussex County Council, on behalf of the council and the NHS West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group. It should take around 10 minutes to answer the questions.We would like to hear from as many people as possible, but the survey is voluntary, and you do not have to answer the questions if you would prefer not to.
