Overview

West Sussex County Council offers free transition events every year, in May.

These events facilitate information sharing between early years providers and schools to improve children’s transition experience as they start school in September 2023. Children who may need this additional support can also be discussed.

By the end of these transitions events schools will:

  • Have the information they need to support planning of class groupings
  • Have the information they need to plan for the transitions of all children and to enable them to begin to work with settings to plan supported transitions for those children who will need this additional support

By the end of these transition events settings will:

  • Have shared relevant information about children in their setting to support transitions
  • Have the information they need to plan for the transitions of all children and to enable them to work with schools to begin to plan supported transitions for those children who will need this additional support

Please note:

Schools should book the event closest to them. Please send the correct practitioner(s) to lead effective discussions and sufficient staff to enable the early years providers to deliver the information they need to share. Once school places are allocated, settings will be instructed to book the same event that their feeder schools are attending. We will assign meeting times between the school and setting within each session.
