The West Sussex Schools Forum was established in January, 2004 in response to the requirements of the Education Act 2002.
Historically, there has always been one Early Years representative from the Private, Voluntary and Independent (PVI) sector at West Sussex Schools Forum. However, in order to increase the profile of Early Years, we are seeking an additional representative to carry out this important role and serve on the Schools Forum alongside our current rep, Sharon Moody (Kids Capers).
Representation from Early Years is important to ensure the views of the sector are taken into account in decision making. This includes discussions around Early Years funding and support from the Local Authority.
In our weekly Early Years and Childcare newsletter #286 (Wednesday 4 October 2023) we asked for invitations for an additional representative to serve on the Schools. We received applications from three candidates and therefore require a ballot.
Election statements from each candidate are provided on this page in the ‘Candidate statements’ section.
All PVI Registered Providers meeting the requirements of the current Free Entitlement agreement are eligible to take part in this ballot. You will be unable to take part if you are:
an elected member of the County Council who holds a Cabinet - level post,
a senior officer of the authority involved in strategic resource management, or
a governor or other employee in West Sussex County Council settings including maintained nursery/primary/secondary/special schools.
