The Early Years Teacher Degree Apprenticeship 

The early years sector is currently experiencing significant developments in professional qualifications and workforce policy. The Government has introduced a new Early Years Teacher Degree Apprenticeship (EYTDA) to enable early years practitioners to gain a degree and achieve Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) while continuing to work in their setting. Employers can benefit from an employer support grant to help cover backfill and associated employment costs.  

To apply, learners must be employed in an eligible early years setting, have employer support and meet the apprenticeship entry requirements. You can find out more by looking at the Department for Education’s Early years teacher degree apprenticeship: guidance for employers. 

The Government is also exploring proposals relating to graduate-level qualifications and early years teaching status (EYTS) with the aim of strengthening progression routes within the profession. 

Purpose of Survey 

This survey aims to gather views on current and future workforce needs, including interest in the Early Years Teacher Degree Apprenticeship and other potential graduate pathways that may become available in the future. Your responses will help inform discussions about viability and design of future programmes at the University of Chichester.
