Overview

The Children Act 2004, saw the introduction of regulations that would require local authorities in England to produce a Children and Young People’s Plan. This would be a strategic overarching plan for all local services for children and young people; be the focus of joint planning for local authorities and their partners and act as a vehicle for them to work together to agree clear targets and priorities for all their services for children and young people, identify actions and activities needed to achieve them, and ensure delivery.

The refreshed Plan will address the following key priority areas:

  • Keeping children and young people safe;
  • Addressing poverty and closing the disadvantage gap; and
  • Improving emotional health and well-being.

To inform the latest version of our Plan we want to hear from our partner organisations in West Sussex whose work helps to improve the lives of children and young people, in order to understand more about your current and planned initiatives over the next three years. Alongside this engagement the Council will be seeking the views of parents and carers, and young people themselves.

This survey primarily aims to understand our stakeholders’ current and planned initiatives aimed at addressing poverty and closing the disadvantage gap. Since these priorities do not exist in isolation, the survey provides the opportunity to highlight where complementary elements or interdependencies with other priorities exist.

Thank you for completing the survey and contributing to the Plan at this early stage. The Plan, over its three-year life, will set out clearly and coherently the Partnership’s commitment to ensure that children and young people come first, and is and will continue to be, informed by their voice.

This survey closes on the 23rd February.
