Overview

We are working to improve the transport network across Surrey and West Sussex. By making it safer, easier and more convenient to walk, cycle, use public transport and improving the standards of our roads, we can help to create more pleasant places in which to live, work and do business.

About the scheme

A22 / A264 Godstone to East Grinstead Area Transport Improvements scheme is a package of proposed measures that are being developed in partnership between Surrey County Council and West Sussex County Council. The area, shown in the image below, covers the A22 from Godstone to the village of Ashurst Wood, just beyond East Grinstead. It also covers the A264 between Copthorne and the point where it meets the A22 at Felbridge.Map of A22-A264 Godstone to East Grinstead/Ashurst Wood and Copthorne/M23 engagement area

The scheme is at an early stage of development where both councils are looking to establish the locations along the corridors that should be selected for improvement and the types of measures that should be considered. It is for this reason that we are undertaking this period of ‘early engagement’ with the wider community to gather local insight into the transport issues, priorities and ideas for enhancements to help inform what improvements are taken forward for further development.

This engagement exercise is being hosted by Surrey County Council. Further information, along with a survey and interactive map where you can leave comments, is available from the A22 / A264 Godstone to East Grinstead Transport Improvements (opens in new window) webpage.
